These consistently plump, sweet, tender mussels are many chefs' favorites. Rope-grown.

Most farmed mussels sold in the U.S. are certified as sustainable by any of a number of seafood advisory organizations. Each generation of mussels grows for about 2 years before harvesting begins. During that time mussels take their nutrients from the ocean requiring no feeding. They are filter-feeders meaning that they actually clean the water they live in. Seafood Watch rates them a "Best Choice." Low mercury level. (About 20 per pound)
